About My Professional Journey
My professional journey has included careers as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) for an international accounting firm, a consultant and trainer for professional services firms, and now as a coach. Even though I excelled in the intellectual challenges of working as a CPA, I enjoyed and excelled at mentoring and developing both my clients and colleagues. I was coaching people long before I took on the title of Professional Coach. In 2000, I transitioned to being a full time coach. I say 'being a coach' since in coaching I have found a career that fully matches my talents, interests and life experiences. There is no disconnection between who I am and what I do for a living.
My prior work experiences contribute to my skill as a coach. By working with a wide variety of people in various industries, I learned to work successfully with people from all different backgrounds, motivations, and experience levels. I learned that it is often more valuable for me to teach a client how to find the right answer themselves, instead of providing them with the right answer. Like many successful professionals, I struggled with having a full, challenging professional life while still trying to have a meaningful personal life. This conflict led me to take two sabbaticals in my professional career both of which led to significant changes in the way I live my life. This experience drove home the fact that everyone has their own personal and professional path. As a coach my role is to facilitate you finding and following your path.
As an avid life long learner I am a graduate of the Coach Training Program at Coach U (www.coachu.com). I am also a founding member of CoachVille (www.coachville.com) and am a member of the International Coaching Federation (www.coachfederation.com).
In addition to coaching one-on-one with individuals, I enjoy speaking to community organizations and various groups on topics related to living a fulfilling, joyful life as well as educating people about the benefits and purposes of coaching.
